While I am here teaching women’s rights and sexual harassment law, the Indian Government has banned a documentary. “India’s Daughter” discusses the 2012 brutal gang rape and murder of a medical student, Jyoti Singh. The Indian Constitution guarantees the “freedom of speech and expression” in Art. 19. I have a daughter who is a Harvard Medical School student. I cry when I think that but for the Grace, this could have been my daughter. But Jyoti Singh was my daughter and the daughter of us all. I cry for the women, for the people of India. I simply cry. Please see the documentary. (Go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9W6WrShqKGE ) Please read the news about these events on the eve of International Women’s Day, 8 March.
